Tuesday, September 9 · Doors at 6:00, show at 6:30 · First Light Books · 4300 Speedway, Austin
First Light is teaming up with The PUPA, Austin's beloved stand-up showcase, to co-present a night of comedy built entirely around books. Five comedians take the stage, Matt Evans, Sarah Matthes, Spencer Cavins, Jo Foster, and Eric Snader, for a set list riffing on reading, writing, and the writing life.
Grab a bundled ticket to walk away with a copy of Chomping at the Bit in hand, or just come for the laughs, either way you've got a seat waiting for you.
The night doubles as pub day for Matt's Chomping at the Bit. Matt didn't grow up around horses, and didn't know the first thing about them, which made veterinary school and his first job as an equine vet an uphill, often absurd education in humility. The book follows Matt through vet school and into that first job, told with the same wry, self-deprecating warmth readers of David Sedaris will recognize, complete with memorable horses, favorite clients, a few he'd rather forget, and the colleagues who helped (or didn't) along the way.
About the author
Matt is an Austin-based equine veterinarian and a graduate of Texas A&M, practicing just outside the city, and a stand-up comedian who performs regularly around Austin and beyond, which makes tonight the perfect excuse to bring both halves of his life into one room.
